We needed another character to round out our Saiyan Heritage theme, but we also wanted to go with someone who hasn’t been seen in the DBZ CCG yet. We didn’t want to go with Scarface or Shorty or any of the forgettable allies of Bardock. Bulla was an option, she had a personality in the GT CCG and she did appear at the end of Z, but we wanted to go with someone who would make more sense as an attacker rather than having a Constant Combat or utility power that would’ve suited Bulla a bit better. Super Saiyan Bardock was also considered, but the Bardock personality set on it’s own is already fairly playable and the 1-3 (unlike most MP sets in Z) has some synergy to it. So that pretty much left Tarble…
Like in the anime, Tarble runs to other Saiyans for help. Pack him with a Saiyan MP (like his brother) and one other ally to get him working for you.
Tarble is a hero personality, but with a unique ability that’s previously only been seen on Bee. We wanted to make sure that the new virtual Vegeta, Young Prince would get to use his little brother as well as boosting the villain variant of the deck to compete with the quality and quantity of hero Saiyan allies. In that line of thinking, we made it so that Tarble can be played and used as Vegeta’s ally regardless of whether Vegeta is a villain or not. This, however, does not change Tarble’s alignment. Tarble is always considered to be a hero, so you should watch out when you play a Vegeta’s Jolting Slash and allow Tarble to take over combat. Interestingly enough, while Tarble is in command you could use a “Heroes Only” card like Confrontation, but similarly he could not use a card like Android 19’s Energy Burst.
Also, like King Vegeta, Tarble is added to the list of characters with Saiyan Heritage for Retro DBZ CCG events.
Tune in on Friday where we have another virtual card that streamlines and at least makes playable a popular transformation that utterly bombed as a mechanic.
The parenthesis text needs to be fixed. Should say “(If Vegeta is your MP and a villain, Tarbel may still be put into your deck and played as normal while still staying a Hero.)” Or something along those lines. Otherwise you’d get the rules lawyers saying “Well, I COULD play him, but I can’t put him in my deck.” =p
I’M AN OFFICIAL SCORE JUDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We used similar wording as what was on Bee.
That Bee is what’s confusing me, since the wording for non-Majin allies in Majin MP decks is the same as the wording for allies of the opposite alignment than the MP. Bee doesn’t seem to differentiate at all for what rule he is able to override, the alignment or the Majin, and since they are worded in the same way I always figured it was both. At the time of Bee’s release, Majin Buu could only be played as Villain.
We actually added the “remains a Hero” part to avoid confusion with his alignment. Quite frankly, I have no idea what alignment Bee is in a Villain Buu deck.
I couldn’t find any clarification on the issue in the CRD. Perhaps you have some insight?
HOW CAN YOU BE AN OFFICIAL SCORE JUDGE WHEN SCORE DOESN’T EXIST ANYMORE!?!?!?!?! =p
I guess the wording is overall fine. Don’t remember it being an issue w/ Bee, but that’s because only DiCarlo played with him. Just trying to be helpful and not a pain in the butt. =p
WE ARE THE LAW!
No, I was actually genuinely curious about this ruling and how Bee worked. Is he always a Hero as well? Is he meant to be able to be played with Evil Buu?
Hey now, everyone loves some Fasha.
WTH? Vegeta has a little brother?
ok i can see him played well with chi chi the grandmother.
