Happy Halloween everyone, here’s everyone’s favorite Satan in DBZ (by default), ready to give villains a sword personality!
Majin Dabura is a freaky scary sword user. His sword cards get around things like Nappa’s Physical Resistance, making it stop just a single attack, or your own Vegeta’s Jolting Slash. The beautiful thing is you can also run Dabura as a Majin-themed character on its own, or in tandem with Sword. Feel free to work up a super powerful Majin Buu’s Charged Attack or lock your opponent with a Majin Strength Maneuver! If you can get to level three, you can really start to lay in the beats with a well timed Majin Quickness or some stashed Majin Dabura’s Petrifying Spit!
Technically, Majin Dabura is a rogue personality so you could play him as a hero, but where’s the fun in that? Also, you got some real deck-building choices to make if you want to include Majin Dabura Lv. 4 or not. While not a bad level, you will lose some of your abilities when and if you get there, or if you just need him to prevent a quick 1-3 Most Powerful Personality Victory.

It’s a nice mp set. The problem with him, which is why i wouldnt use him, he has too many ccps. While they are nice you’re still only gonna pull off 1 or 2 attacks with the average hand. This puts him behind other better mps like goku,gohan,trunks,buu,cell, ect.
Would he draw two extra cards from Majin Quickness?
To clarify, the power only triggers once per effect, not once per card drawn. You would draw three cards total from Majin Quickness, still not a bad deal
You’d draw one from the opponent using some card effect to draw a card, and then one from using Majin Quickness. MQ would count as a single card effect.
So yeah, 3 hours of sleep is catching up to me. Misread Dabura as drawing a card whenever a non-personality card effect is used to draw a card (which I believe is HT Cell level 2’s power). God, I need sleep…
I’m sure the answer is no, but I gotta ask. If I recall, you can use “Personality Only” cards that do not match your MP if they’ve taken over combat. So one could, feasibly, have Majin Vegeta take over combat, and attach Majin Vegeta’s Rage to your Quickness Drill. IF (Big if here) you were at Dabura’s Level 3, would you draw an extra card from the bottom of the discard pile, the top of your deck, or not at all?
Not at all. The Majin Vegeta’s Rage is modifying the effect of Vegeta’s Quickness Drill by attaching itself and adding an additional draw to the card already in play. It doesn’t create a direct card draw effect on its own.

Although I kinda wish his lvl 1 had the level 2 power and the level 2 had the level 3 power, but that’s just me being a power gamer. =p Good jorb on the personality.

lv 1 would have been better served as a physical attack with this power as the seconday. As it stands his other lv 1 is still better.
Although I generally try to avoid “design by committee”, if the community overwhelming felt he should be changed to be more powerful then I’d go along with it.
Keep in mind though, we want to encourage new and interesting decks and ways to play, not the next tournament dominating personality.
Meh, it’s fine. I def wouldn’t give him the ability as an attack, because then Ally decks would possibly abuse it… But then again, there aren’t many Majin or Sword ally decks out there, so it could be moot. Definitely don’t design by committee. Learn from my mistake. 😉

I agree that you dont want to make a new broke mp set, but it needs to atleast be usable in the current meta. I mean Its great that there is new mps supporting unused mechanics, but it doesnt matter if they cant atleast compete with the tier 1 decks. To be honest id rather see more support cards for dead masteries or theme decks than mp sets.Decent mp sets are gonna be hard to make with the guidelines you guys have set for yourselves.
Also chippy i dont see how thatd be abused by an ally deck. As you already stated he can only be an ally for majins, which the majority already stink. So it would atleast boost majin allies since they really only have buu and vegeta. His power also states that only the attacks performed by dabura gain the ability. So i dont see the problem. Ally abuse is one of the easiest problems to solve with just some added wording applied.
Physical attack doing +3 stages of damage. If majin dabura is your main personality then for the remainder of combat attacks performed by majin dabura with sword or majin in the title cannont be stopped by floating effects.
I REALLY like his level 3. Prime target for an Unlocked Potential while sitting on the MBS level 1. Doubling the cards like Majin Buu’s Energy Spray, Trunks Sword Position 2 and 3, and Trunks Sword Slice can give you that one combat kill power many decks desire. I’d run his level 4 to further open up the options an Unlocked Potential would give you. I mean, if you go black, you can really put some hurt on somebody with cards like Black Chaos Detonation, Black Face Slap, etc. I think there is a pretty dangerous deck to be made.
Just remembered why I never finished my Dabura deck back in playtesting…his level 4 only affects “PHYSICAL attacks”, not Energy. Which makes Unlocked Potential for level 4 not quite the powerhouse it could be. Which makes me like his level 3 even more. Definitely one of the better virtual MPs in my opinion.
Hopefully this posts where it’s supposed to (in response to Joshman’s post about Majin Vegeta’s Rage).
Majin Vegeta’s Rage appears to be its own effect, not a modifier applied to VQD. It does not say that the VQD gains that text, it merely creates its own floating effect with the requirement that it be attached first. This is similar to the likes of Severe Bruises and Goku’s Heart Disease, which I don’t think anyone would say is creating a modifier carried out by the personality they’re attached to.

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to it being set up but I understand that the logistics behind it are likely rather extensive. Do you plan on streaming any more videos in the future as well? I really enjoyed watching those as someone who didn’t have the opportunity to play in major competitive settings back in the day. It’s cool to see different archetypes played.
I didn’t really like this MP at first but it’s grown on me.
