Virtual Card Set 2013 – The Dead Zone

This is the second to last Virtual Card to be revealed that will be legal for Gen Con events. You’ll notice by the numbering on the card that this skips a number in the set. That’s just because I rather that card be the very last one we reveal, but I’m sure you probably have a very good guess as to what that card might be after checking this out.

29 Garlic Jr's Dead ZoneFinally, the Dead Zone makes an appearance in the game. While in the future it could still end up as a Battleground, for now it’s a pretty useful attack for Garlic Jr. It replaces itself in your hand with a card draw and gives Garlic Jr. his own personal Unlocked Potential. However, unlike Unlocked Potential you can can actually choose a lower level power as well if Garlic Jr. has taken it up a notch. However the clarification to Unlocked Potential in the CRD does apply to this card as well, so no stacking powers from the same level (though Garlic Jr. really doesn’t have many Constant Combat Powers that it would make sense to do that with).

This actually gives Garlic Jr. some very techy and defensive options in combat now. Garlic Jr. the Monster will straight up reduce energy attacks to a more manageable level than even the Trunks HT Lv. 1 can, effectively making Dead Zone a very similar card to Vegeta’s Protective Aura. For the ever popular ally decks, Garlic Jr. the Void Master will just plow right through all of their personality power based attacks.

And if your worried that there might be a new King of Beats now that Majin Buu has been weakened, the Garlic Jr. HT Lv. 1 has always been a good example of a decent power on an unsupported personality. But who am I kidding, you’ll all probably use the Virtual Garlic Jr. anyway, even if he does have pre-Saiyan Saga power levels.

Later, BroZ!
