A New Year: Make A Wish

Crikey this year has flown by! It seems like just yesterday my life had a lot less Balls in it. As is the standard, each year I make a resolution I ultimately don’t keep. In the end however, the follow through isn’t as important as the wish. Instead of equating them to false hope, focus on progress: Continually advancing yourself and those around you. Greetings Dragon Ballers, Didier here and I love this card game. There are a bunch of decks this year that have me excited for all the possibilities 2014 brings. Feast your eyes on my To Do list for this year. Shenron help me find the time….

1) Lots of Vegeta decks.

Who’s got two thumbs? Of course they both will be played at Gen Con this year. We’ll say I’m turning down the cookie cut and turning up the WTF. I also have been playing with the idea of a Hero Freestyle hybrid physical/energy as others have suggested. It’s a shame I can’t use Namekian Remedy Drill though.

2) Goten Ringer. Orange?

The style is up in the air but it already has a lot of freestyle cards. Gotenks Fast Action, Gotenks Potential, and Gotenks Flight seem like staples alone so I’m finding it hard to justify the CS Red Mastery – probably more meant for Goten MBS HT. Ringer seems like he’ll be as close to a full fusion deck as you can get. Black maybe?

3) Captain Ginyu. Black?

Definitely will watch leveling speed on this one. Advice? At first glance I feel like the powers of Zarbon and Broly will be enough to hit Lv. 3 as long as I draw at least one anger card each combat. Many of you are toting the idea of playing him Ginyu ally with the new Ginyu Force levels for field support. Sorry, but the possibility of Burter x3 giving my attacks a massive damage modifier sounds too good to pass on.

4) Tapion Orange/Red/Black.

I just can’t get enough of him. He has to be my favorite personality set released by Retro. I love sword decks AND swords (doesn’t everyone?) so I’m biased but he never gets old. His mechanics are similar, but subtly different from normal sword. I know I lose more games than I win with him and deep down I loathe that Lv. 2 power, but I’m probably going to end up with four Tapion decks…so you can expect another article on him soon.

5) Frieza Freestyle.

Represent! After seeing Tyler do so well in the South Kai with this deck, I can’t help but grow in curiosity. Frieza Free wasn’t even on my radar until that happening. Many nights were spent afterwards lost in the dark side of my mind. How could I let this happen? Was my love for Freestyle just an illusion? This injustice to one of the greatest villains can’t stand. The new Frieza levels released were a sign. Freestylin’ with a Frenchman will make its return!

6) Majin Buu Ally.

Last and probably least, Majin Static Orb has intrigued me since its release. That energy can get big in a hurry, especially if you start placing down some Intense Observation Drills. What better personality to run Majin ally than the one that gets six extra allies? Things get scary quickly when multiple Majin Buu’s Kamikaze Ghost start coming into play.  Since Majin Buu is your MP, you can have an extra Majin Buu’s Energy Spray. That’s just one more possible Static Orb in your hand and a nice little drainer combo.

So what decks is everyone shooting to make this year?
