This is a deck I built to take advantage of Evil/Kid Buu’s ridiculously high power stages. I chose the MBS Red Style Mastery for its ability to make attacks focused, since very few decks run a lot of straight physical blocks outside of the “stop alls”. Red also has a good amount of attacks that “stay in play”, as well as some of the best secondary effects on physical attacks outside of the Saiyan Style.
First, let’s take a look at my set-up:
I chose only to go to Lv. 3 since that’s a pretty damn good power, and I felt that none of the level four personalities were worth going for. Red levels reasonably quickly so a 1-3 MPPV is entirely possible. After that, the Majin Buu powers work so well with the mastery and the theme of the deck. Levels 2 and 3 are already focused physical attacks, and even though I will have very rare occasion to use the “if successful” effect on the level 2, I am happy enough with the 8,000,000+ top power level and a focused physical attack with a +4 modifier. The level one is particularly awesome because it is one of the few non-focused attacks in the deck and it has a great “if stopped” effect.
The sensei is a standard choice for the deck. A quick note on the sensei deck: I only have one card listed which, is You’re Invited. This is because I think the current sensei mechanic as it is now is terrible, and I will not risk losing cards like Red Axe Heel Kick or Red Shattering Leap for other cards. In a tournament, I’d fill it out with random crap. For this deck list, I won’t even bother.
So let’s take a look at the deck, shall we:
Sensei Deck:
Battleground:
Non-Combat:
3x Cookie
Combat (Utility):
Defense:
Energy Attacks:
Physical Attacks:
3x Gohan’s Kick
3x Majin Vegeta’s Frantic Attack
3x Red Whiplash
The basic pattern of the deck is to pound the opponent with as many many physical attacks as possible, while working your way up to higher levels. Red Axe Heel Kick works amazingly well with Red Shattering Leap and (if the circumstances are right) Red Tilted Punch. I made a bold choice in my battleground/location with Majin Babidi’s Ship, which can seriously put a hamper on energy based decks and often times ally decks as well. The deck is as simple as it is focused: make sure your attacks hit, hit hard and hit often!
Thanks for posting this! I am looking forward to seeing and testing out some more lists from the live streams you guys have been posting. Keep up the good work!
I like the deck theme and the idea of getting to Kid Buu’s level 3 ( by far one of my favorite personality powers in the game ).
The few things I’m iffy about:
– No city in turmoil.
– No Majin Buu’s Childish Taunt
– No Champion Aura ( for shame J-Train )
I used to run Red Buu beatdown. That level 1 power is brutal. Stop my attack and let me draw a card, or take my attack and be too low to perform an energy attack.
Nice deck man, thanks for posting.
I understand you’re trying to play different masteries and such, but I don’t think there’s any reason to choose MBS over the CS or even TS in this deck. The focused part is not that much of a game changer in current environment. Most decks I’ve played against seem to have gravitated towards single blocks like Black Recovery, Body Destruction, Pikkon’s Leg Catch, Goku/Trunks Swiftly Moving etc so really TIAWT and Saiyan Brace/Black Buffer Block are gonna be the only things that will ever be worth using this Mastery against. Unless you’re trying to get cards into your discard pile on purpose to fetch em with Axe Heel Kick, but there’s more effective ways of that like Piccolo and Heroes Gather to ditch two attacks and then Amazing Technique to fetch Axe Heel from sensei deck for a 4 hit swing, on top of the other two cards in your hand and your MP power.
Supreme Kai’s Ki Push would fit well too. Play current level ability, level up, use that, Ki Push, and level down to use your power again would yield you 5 attacks from just two cards out of your hand.
50/50 as far as I’m concerned. While the extra 3 PS from the CS mastery would be great, when you’re talking about the most powerful personality in the game you don’t really have a short on damage. Focused attacks are still very strong against control decks who tend to play a lot of omi blocks.
However, the way you built this deck with all the remain physical attacks would double and triple dip into the CS mastery so there’s that.
I keep the CS Mastery behind the MBS one just because it is that interchangeable.
I will say, the MBS provides more utility against more decks. Forcing a Red Face Upheaval or Red Lightning Slash through is absolutely devastating against some decks.
Sure, CS can force more damage on my attacks, but as was pointed out Buu is already up there in terms of damage. I find it more valuable to shoot through most of the defenses that people carry now, and there is never a combat where I am locked out by Time.
I understand your point, just a difference in play style I guess.
I really like your articles, but this deck just looks bad to me. The deck is lacking a lot of good non-combat hate like City, Big Man on Campus, and 17 Smirks. Another problem with this is that there’s hardly anything to stop attacks with. Straining focusing move is a great energy stop all that I really think you should add in. Red Energy Orb is essentially a free copy of Red Energy Blast, and I am wondering where it is at. Finally, I think you should try a good slime anger strategy. With enough drill/non-combat hate Vic Drill can be dealt with. Getting up to level five and hitting for free every combat is simply amazing.
