A special Halloween treat for you BroZ today, our first Virtual Card since before Gen Con 2013! We wanted to provide something more festive and seasonal for Halloween, like the Majin Dabura set we released last year. So we struck up a card to help two fan favorite personalities: Majin Buu and Gotenks!
I hope that the Unplayable Dream article earlier in the week got you thinking about Majin Buu’s Kamikaze Ghost and all the potential the card “could” have with some support. What’s more, this card can also work with the slightly better, though more difficult to use, Gotenks Kamikaze Ghost. With Majin Buu’s Kamikaze Ghost, you could actually pull some kamikaze’d ghosts out of your removed from game pile (at the standard three stages above zero) and basically add a decent 12-card discard effect to any combat from just one card.
With Gotenks Kamikaze Ghost, the effect is slightly better, hitting your opponent with an 18-card discard resulting from a single card! You don’t even need to get down in stages to use allies like you would with Majin Buu, the downside is that you actually have to fuse into Gotenks before exploding your ghost wad. On the plus side, you could use SPOOKED while as Kid Trunks or Goten pre-fusion to get the Ghosts into play (and there isn’t really any cards that discard Combat cards out of play). You just couldn’t asplode them until you fuse into Gotenks, since the activated effect is still behind the “Gotenks Only” restriction. Still, it’s not a bad trick at all if you can pull off a Fusion.
That’s it for today. Happy Halloween! Later, BroZ!
I’m still a little tired, but if you pulled the ghosts out as Kid Trunks or Goten, wouldn’t you have to fuse that turn to not lose them? Don’t all non Non-Combat cards that stay in play get discarded at the end of Combat/the turn if they weren’t used, unless otherwise stated?
I agree with Sayjin, technically since Gotenk’s ghost is a combat card, he couldn’t technically put them into play until fused. If they were a non-combat, it would work like the idea in the article.
Sayjin – I’m not sure though on the second part of your question.
But aside from that, this is pretty cool. I’ve built some janky Orange Buu energy beats on OCTGN for fun and I normally like to back my energy beats up with a few random allies (at least in today’s physical heavy environment). This makes it a little bit more worth using the ghosts. Or a Buu ally deck in general. Blue Buu ally would be fun since it has several ways of dropping itself to zero, and ways to pull allies from the discard pile easily, then this to serve that purpose before or after you get to use the ghosts.
And the cover pic for the article is great. If I have children I’m gonna sit them down and tell them the story of how Gotenks saved the world from the evil spirit of Ghost Hitler and that if their teacher says otherwise she’s a dirty liar.
What, so only female teachers can be dirty liars? =P
Just woke up read this laughed my ass off
I like the idea this card presents. It takes a card that wasn’t widely used and makes it another weapon for Majin Buu. It’s also not “Limit 1” which means you can get 3 uses out of it. If played right, one would be able to damage the opponenet for 60 cards total from the Kamikazee Ghosts (24 from the original 6, 36 more if spooked is used all 3 times). And that is just Majin Buu…
If used by Gotenks, you could rack up a total of 90 life cards. That’s all a big if, though.
My huge beef with the Kamikazee Ghosts in the game is this: In the show, if someone hit one, it would blow up on them. That doesn’t happen in the card game. And I disagree with that.
But overall, I would rather use this for Buu over Gotenks. Good Job, guys.
I’m shakin’ in my boots! Looks like I’ll be remaking the Majin ally deck I had a while ago. Being able to play them as Goten/KidTrunks or not, no fusion deck is insane enough to run these. You already have around 15 cards dedicated to fusion. Adding in another 9 would be suicide.
