Well, the last 24-hours has certainly seen a flurry of activity over Janemba! Love him or hate him. card designer Geoff “Sayjin” Brewster got right in there a listened to your concerns and worked with the community to improve the balance on Janemba. We thank Sayjin for all his efforts in the community, it is indeed hard to imagine it without him.
While Janemba’s ultimate place in the meta remains to be seen, his re-edited powers keeps the spirit of his original design and should stir the deck-building imagination of the community (as is our whole intention behind virtual cards). Even our failures are success in that they continue to bring the community together and inspire discussion and conversation.
Thanks for taking part in our community and your continuing devotion to our efforts to keep the community going! Here are the new Janemba cards, post errata. Later BroZ!
Well said.
Looking good! I have a question and I’m not sure where I should ask it so I’ll try here: might we be getting a Super Gogeta MP in the near future, seeing as how we now have Janemba? Gogeta was one of my favorite characters, even though he had less than 5 minutes of face time.
Since Fusion has already been established as a particular mechanic, it would be unlikely that Gogeta would ever get an MP from us though while we have nothing planned at that moment, I wouldn’t rule out a Gogeta fusion in the future.
Looking forward to one being created hopefully soon!
Yup tis the great thing about virtual cards, they can be changed easily when need be.
This x100. Good show and great changes.
” should stir the deck-building imagination of the community (as is our whole intention behind virtual cards).”
The Retro group has made solid changes to the game, such as the removal of SWK and the DPR. Why stop there, though? Is it really that bad of an idea to retain the Majin Ally rule? Maybe I’m alone in being annoyed by this, but I am interested in making things like Babidi decks. The thing is though, why bother? I can run Buu, Vegeta, Pui Pui, and maybe Bibidi. That’s it though, Yakon, Spopovich, and Dabura all lack powers that would be wanted in an ally deck, especially being constant combat powers. Please consider removing this silly archaic rule.
That’s probably one of those rules that will stay in there due to how Majins were designed. We’ve been working on some new Majin to make them more “ally friendly” but their are no plans to do away with the Majin rule at this time.
Stronger power levels are needed, Both Super Buu and Kid Buu were weaker than Janemba yet their level 2 cards are 4 mil stronger than Janemba, change it.
The Kid Buu power levels in the TCG are way off (relatively speaking), but Janemba will eventually get to 9.7 Million.
He’s,at the moment, the 2nd most powerful character in the game. Your already going to do 5 base 8 of his 10 stages on lv 2 is that really not good enuff? Not to mention he is getting card draw and the ability to swap a dead card from his hand for something else in this Zone.
Who really cares if Janemba isn’t “strong enough” to reflect how strong the character was in the movie. The personality powers that he has are ridiculous and makes up for the fact that he doesn’t beat Buu or Kid Buu at level 2.
Being able to store cards in a separate zone and use them during an attack phase is beyond good in this game. I already have a couple thoughts of how he is going to be broken regardless of what his next 3 levels do.
I believe per the last article is he only going to level 4.
Are cards under the mastery public knowledge?
This was answered by Geoff Brewster on the DBZ CCG Championship Page on Facebook and he said “yes”.
Why do people keep bringing up the Majin Ally rule? It’s fine, no need to change it.
Interesting that it is not a “you may” on placing cards under your mastery. I think these powers are much less abusable.
Since he is being made to use Cosmic Ascension, is there any chance that it’ll be changed from tuff neff only so Janemba can use it out side of that format.
He’s already 9/10 mp he doesn’t need anything else. Seriously his lv 3 and 4,could be blank and he’d be good still.
I am really loving the new Janemba and working one building some decks with him, but I noticed a miniscule error on his levels 1 and 2 that is bugging me. On his level one where it says: “…Mastery to choose a card under your Mastery that ‘perfoms’ an attack…” and his level 2: “choose a card under your Mastery that ‘perfoms’ an attack and play it”. They are both misspelled as perfoms instead of performs. It’s a stupid little mistake and I hate being the annoying guy that just points out mistakes, but I am just trying to help out 🙂
