Continuing Bulma week, we have a card that had many iterations before we came back around to its current state. Last week we showed you an Oolong ally where I even mentioned how that Oolong which became Announcer was originally Bulma’s Lab. The reason why we originally abandoned the location is simple: no deck using Bulma the Wife was going to run any location other than Winter Countryside. That deck is completely sunk if it gets off level one, so there was no point in making a Bulma location that we knew wasn’t going to be used at all. But then when we started testing more consistent levels of Bulma, locations entered back into the equation.
The first part of the power is what helps Bulma the Wife. It allows the use of previously inaccessible named cards for a Bulma MP like Bulma Finds a Drill and Bulma Finds a Dragon Ball, making them more than just blank cards with a Bulma name. However it’s not all good news for Bulma. While you do get access to two more Bulma cards, you do end up losing one in the process: Bulma’s Looking Good. This card is to help Bulma get away from her fanservice image after all and bolster her science creds (don’t worry, we’ll have a fanservice card on Friday).
Outside of Bulma, the card is somewhat useful in a few situations and worth a consideration in a Sensei Deck if you wind up against a Black deck. It won’t help against the Cell Saga Black Style Mastery itself, but it will stop cards like Black Body Destruction and Black Thought Focus from discarding more cards from your hand.
That’s all for today. Check back for the last Bulma support card on Friday!
Later, BroZ!
love the hand control aspect of this card.
also, will bills/whis be previewed as playable personalities before gencon?
More than likely not.
i asked because it seems the only meta-changing card in the 2014 virtual set is Janemba (and his cards). the rest is just fluff for fun decks. i cannot see stuff like king piccolo, bulma, etc… being used or played. it’s unfortunate. even last year’s ginyu and such was better. sigh…
