New Dragon Ball Z Movie Announced! And It Has Nothing To Do With Dragon Ball Evolution!

Several news and translation sites have reported that a new Dragon Ball Z movie has been announce and is slated for release on March 30, 2013 in Japan. The announcement came in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which also stated that series creator Akira Toriyama would be heavily involved in the project, hoping to capture the flavor of the series and add a modern twist.

Not much is known about the plot, other than it takes place after the defeat of Kid Buu, and that Trunks and Goten will have a significant role (groan…).

No word on an official release in the United States, as recent Dragon Ball Z specials like The Episode of Bardock (which features Chilled) and Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! (which introduced Tarble) have not had any official release in the US. Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans only saw release in the US as an extra to the video game Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2. However, it is not difficult to find fan subs of each of those releases online and given the length of time it takes to get an official US release for the Dragon Ball properties, it’s all but certain that a copy of this movie with English subtitles will be available online within days of the Japanese release.

For those of you who can (or think you can) read Japanese, there is already a website up for the Dragon Ball 2013 movie. Later, BroZ!
