Garrett and I have been hard at work trying to come up with fun new ways for you to play the game with the Virtual Cards. We have a few cards in the pipeline that we are ready to reveal, including a new 1-4 personality set I had hoped would make it in the game and a new location that you may have seen in the stream. We will begin releasing those after the Midwest Championship, so we don’t disrupt that event with new cards.
In the meantime, we are going to start a three-week experiment on our Facebook page by having the community vote on a new Virtual Card. We are going to give you five choices of personalities for you to vote on in week one, in week two we’ll have you vote on the name of that personality while we come up with some powers that would fit with that personality (as well as things that won’t be overtly unbalanced at first glance) and then in the final week we will vote on those powers.
The first poll is up now, and we will total it up Saturday night.
Here are the first group of candidates:
Bardock Lv. 4
Bardock recently went through an upgrade in the past few years, finally reaching Super Saiyan. Needless to say, this is way after the game ended so it never found it’s way in. Bardock wouldn’t be the first Capsule Corp Power Pack personality to get a Level 4 later on, and adding one for him would fit both the storyline and giving him some immunity from a 1-3 deck.
Hercule Lv. 4
A fighter who actually has a handful of decent named cards. His ability to use Villains and Heroes Only cards shouldn’t be underrated, and maybe a Level 4 will be just the boost Hercule needs to see some play.
Krillin Lv. 5
Krillin really got shafted, missing out on a Level 5. He actually has some pretty good anger cards, like Krillin’s Quick Kicks and a Level 1 personality that can gain anger. Could a Level 5 make Krillin a viable anger personality?
King Cold Lv. 5
Like Krillin, King Cold actually has some built in anger support with his Hi-Tech Level 2 or his Lost Villains Level 2 personality. Even his Level 4 Ultra Rare gains you anger for unexplained reasons. A Level 5 could give that anger some meaning.
Frieza Lv. 5
We’ve been trying to make Frieza somewhat more playable, but it certainly hasn’t been easy. A Level 5 probably won’t accomplish that, but it gives him more options, including a more viable win condition through Frieza’s Irritation Grows.
Voting ends Saturday (though the poll will likely stay up). Vote for your favorite or the one you’d most like to play.
Later BroZ!
My opinions:
Agree with Krillin and Frieza lv. 5. I disagree with your attempt to make Frieza “more playable” His Trunks Saga levels are actually not bad, there’s just nothing to support them besides Black Style Mastery from TS. Instead of making the levels you made, I would have personally made some nice “Frieza Only” Black Style Attacks.
King Cold doesn’t need anything. He was in like what, a whopping 2 episodes?
And I disagree on Bardock and Hercule. See no point in it and not sure on the whole “immunity from 1-3 decks”. The risk vs. reward factor should be there when choosing an MP.
I’ll have to agree with Edison here on risk/reward and being open to getting 1-3’d. The ability to see your opponent’s hand is insanely powerful I always felt was kept in check by the 1-3 risk.
Not so much Hercule. That guy’s very limited.
I’m not all that enamored with the options. I’d like to see maybe a few celestials or majins get a lv 4 cus theres actually a few i like, but id never run cus of no lv4.
How about a new Namekian? Nail could use some love. =)
Out of the options given, I would given Frieza lvl 5 a shot. Maybe some type of CCP/Parenthesis text that affects his lower levels?
Chippy
While I am on the same page as Chippy on a new Namekian, I would nominate Kami over Nail since Nail already exists and Kami, an integral part of the DB/Z story, has never even received a single level.
Frieza should get a level 5 either way as he was one of the main villians of the series to not have one. Vegeta, Cell, and various forms of Buu.
Hmm…Kami lvl’s and new Namekian cards would be AWESOME!!!! there’s so many good styled cards for red, saiyan etc. I feel like Namekian got shafted since you can pretty much count the amount of good playable ones on one hand. 1)Strike 2)Dash 3)Energy Focus umm…yahhh…you get the point.
I will say that the Namekian TS mastery is one of my favorite masteries.
And spiffy, you forgot Door Explosion.
I’d say the true shaft was that it got like, 6 cards between Babidi Saga and Kid Buu Saga, two of which are bad drills that won’t be used by Namekian decks.
Blame Piccolo. Kinda hard to make Namekian cards when the only Namekian ain’t doing much… =p
Chippy
Subsets . . .
Frieza level 5. he should have a super good constant combat power that can be used via unlocked potential.
Add more cards for Frieza’s Irritation Grows to abuse. Then worry about giving him a valuable level 4. (get it, level 4….)
MUST. HAVE. MORE. HERCULE.
